1946

One of the early Red Cross clubs for military personnel on Okinawa was the Typhoon Terrace. The newspaper article announcing the opening of the Typhoon Terrace is from the 23 March 1946 issue of "The Daily Okinawan", a military newspaper for GI's.

The third photo is the garden behind the club. The May 1946 map shows the 136th AAA area on Rt 20 and Rt 5 which was the location for the Typhoon Terrace Club. Today that area would be the eastern dependent housing area of Kadena Air Base.

The March 1947 Daily Okinawan Red Cross club activities show the Typhoon Terrace still in operation in 1947.
