Based on information I received from the historical museum in Freeman South Dakota, population 1300, J.K. Hofer was John K. Hofer Jr. whose name appears on the below photos. John Jr. lived and worked in Freeman S.D prior to WWII. He worked for his father John K. Hofer Sr. who was a pharmacist, photographer, and owner of the local drug store. John Jr. worked for his father at the drug store and probably learned the photography business from him. After returning from Okinawa it appears that John Jr. went into the business of selling photos that he took while on Okinawa in 1945-46, based on the 120 numbers photos (minus a few numbers) that appear on these pages. The historical museum has identified the first photo shown as that of John K Hofer Jr.
