9th STATION HOSPITAL
BOLO POINT 1945-1946

Photos from a WWII album of a GI with the 9th Station Hospital. The 9th Station Hospital was on Okinawa early in the battle for Okinawa. Its original location was up near Bolo Point. These photos are from its Bolo Point location and the 1945 unit location topo maps shows it to be located in the red area 151, this corresponds with the written note on the back of one of the photos. There are also photos of a military related nature including Chocolate Drop Hill battle site, the Naha harbor dredge, Buckner Memorial, the Stillwell surrender site at Kadena, various Military Government locations at Ishikawa and the 156th Station hospital gate near Kadena Circle.

9th STATION HOSPITAL
CAMP MERCY 1945-1946

The 9th Station Hospital moved from Bolo Point down to Camp Mercy and after the battle for Okinawa was over the various field and station hospitals around Okinawa were consolidated into the 9th Station Hospital. The Camp Mercy photos show life around the 9th Station Hospital at that location. I believe that the GI album belonged to a Mess Sergeant with the 9th Station Hospital and you can see from the photos that a lot of them were related to the mess area.
